Three more regions now have their representatives for the 2013 Little League World Series! Over the past two weeks, the Mexico, Europe/Africa, and Caribbean regions held tournaments to decide who to represent the regions at the Series. This brings the total of teams in the Series up to six so far, out of the total 16. Only two more regions remain in the international bracket.

Over the week of July 7-13, the Mexico region held its tournament. The final game came down to Municipal de Tijuana and Boca del Rio, Veracruz. Tijuana won the game 11-5, and continues on to the Series. This is the first time a team from Tijuana is participating in the Series.

Last week, both the Europe & Africa region and the Caribbean region held tournaments to choose the teams who would represent the regions in the 2013 Series.

In the Europe & Africa region, the title game was between South Moravia, Czech Republic, and Emilia, Italy. Czech Republic won the game, 3-0, and advanced to the Series. They are the first team from the Czech Republic to participate in the Series.

Moving on to the Caribbean region, Puerto Rico defeated Curacao 6-4 to win the tournament. Puerto Rico has always been a hotbed of baseball talent, and that continues this year. While Puerto Rico last sent a team to the Series in 2010, they have yet to win the championship.

This is the first time since 2001 that two countries will be making their Little League World Series debut. Only six of the sixteen teams in the Series have been decided, and there are already 3 first timers. 2013 is already shaping up to be an historic Series!

To recap, six regions have declared their champions for the 2013 Little League World Series:

Asia-Pacific – Chinese Taipei (Taiwan)
Australia – Perth Central
Caribbean – Puerto Rico
Europe/Africa – Czech Republic
Japan – Musashi Fucho
Mexico – Municipal de Tijuana

International-Bracket

Only two undecided regions remain in the International bracket: Canada and Latin America. The Latin America region tournament is this week. Canada begins its tournament on August 2nd, the same day the United States regions begin theirs.
