It's hard to believe October is already upon us! Here at TJM Promotions, October is always a busy month, but we're ready for the challenge.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This month, it's not uncommon to see pink everywhere, from billboards to TV commercials to major companies altering their logos and adding pink. Charities not only in the United States, but around the world organize a variety of events and campaigns to raise funds for the fight against cancer.

The organizations running campaigns often contact us to design a range of items depending on their needs. Pink wristbands, patches, lanyards, dog tags, and more are all common sights in October. Even our local Ocala Police Department has joined in with special pink squad cars:

Also, on October 23-31 (and in some cases, other weeks throughout the month as well), people around the country observe Red Ribbon Week, a national drug, alcohol, and tobacco awareness campaign geared toward school-age children.

The origins of Red Ribbon Week dates back nearly three decades. In 1985, after a large drug bust in Mexico, U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency officer Enrique Camarena was captured and murdered by drug lords in retaliation. In his memory, his friends and family wore red ribbons around his hometown. The practice eventually grew into a nationwide campaign with plenty of media attention.

Now, people wear not only red ribbons, but other items such as wristbands, lanyards, you name it. We supply thousands of items to charity organizations around the country who in turn sell the items to help raise funds for the campaign against drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. We also sell lots of them to schools to give to students. Visit the Red Ribbon Campaign website to learn more: http://redribbon.org/

And of course, we can't forget about Halloween! We've already started to see an influx of candy in the office (thanks, Rica!) and we're sure it's only going to get worse (better?) from here on in. We're working on having a costume day on the 31st, so we'll have to dust off our "Sexy Promotional Product Provider" costumes (don’t worry, they don’t really exist…shudder.)

We're very excited for the month of October, and we're honored to help however we can for the various charities and awareness campaigns. Keep TJM Promotions in mind when you're looking for a great way to advertise YOUR business, organization or charity. We're glad to help!
