TJM Promotions was given the honor of providing challenge coins for The Ride Home organization, which holds an annual event also called The Ride Home. The group holds this event the southeastern U.S. every year, and commemorates former prisoners of war and those registered as missing in action, as well as their families. In 2013, The Ride Home is giving special attention to this year’s event because they are commemorating the 60th anniversary of the end of the Korean War and the 40th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War.
The Ride Home wanted challenge coins that featured the group’s logo, as well as the POW/MIA logo. They wanted a design that would stand out and be something that attendees would value in remembrance of their service.
The front of the challenge coins features the name of the group, The Ride Home, along with the POW/MIA logo and motto “You Are Not Forgotten.”
The opposite side of the challenge coins has an American flag in the background, over which are two dog tags. One with the anniversary of the end of the Korean War in 1953, the other with the anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War in 1973. The challenge coins also come with a red, white, and blue lanyard so the coins may be worn around the neck as a medal.
The Ride Home event invites all former POWs and MIA families together for a weekend of remembrance and recognition in honor of their service to our country. This year’s event also features the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall, a 3/5 scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. The Ride Home event will be held September 19-21 at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Georgia.
TJM Promotions is honored to have been selected as the challenge coin provider for such a distinguished event. We eagerly anticipate seeing our challenge coins in the hands of those who have sacrificed so much in service of our country. They are not forgotten.
