Customer Spotlight: Appleton Museum of Art
Celebrating art with a local tresure.

As you might expect at a company full of creative people, we’re always happy to work with arts organizations. And we love to support local organizations here in our hometown. This month, we feature one of our favorites, the Appleton Museum of Art, a true local treasure.
The Appleton Museum of Art is a campus of the College of Central Florida in Ocala. Open to the public since 1987, it is home to more than 24,000 objects and works of art spanning centuries and continents. Throughout the year, the museum presents special exhibitions alongside regularly updated permanent collection galleries, as well as a full schedule of educational programs and studio art classes for all ages. The Appleton also maintains a robust outreach program, providing free artmaking opportunities to K-12 schools and organizations serving at-risk youth and adults.
The Appleton has depended on TJM products for several years now, for multiple promotional products.
“We come to TJM with a wide variety of needs throughout the year, from promotional giveaway items, to Appleton-branded apparel for Summer Art Camp, to merchandise for the Appleton Store,” said Lisa Taylor, the museum’s graphic design and social media coordinator. “Often the products we order relate to a special exhibition or a specific work of art. We have purchased numerous products throughout the years including, but not limited to, hats, t-shirts, bags, keychains, admission stickers and water bottles.”
Our reputation in the community led the Appleton to TJM originally, she said. Our dedicated customer is the key to the ongoing relationship, Taylor said.
“TJM is a prominent name in the community for promotional printing and has a large variety of items to choose from. And, several TJM team members have been or are actively involved in the local arts community. Company/brand recognition prompted us to try TJM, but the excellent customer service has kept us coming back.”
Examples of exhibit-specific items we’ve provided the Appleton include a keychain for a dance exhibit and a t-shirt in an Art Deco style.
“The keychain features an image of a drypoint etching by German artist Ernst Oppler, titled Anna Pavlova in ‘The Dying Swan.’ We selected it as a gift for our Director’s Circle members at the opening of an exhibition on dance in which this work was included,” Taylor said. “The t-shirt features an image of a poster from the Art Deco era that advertises a coffee and tea business. The poster was included in our exhibition “Skylines to Hemlines: Art Deco Design from the Permanent Collection,” and we had the t-shirt printed to sell in the Appleton Store at the time.”
The products always are ;popular w;ith staff an;d museum-goers, Taylor said.“We always receive positive feedback from staff and museum members. We can also see this reflected in items we order for resale in the store through our sales and visitor feedback.”
The museum knows they can count on TJM for top quality
“The products definitely meet our need for high-quality and affordability. We work closely with the TJM team to ensure that we’re ordering the best possible products and working in the best printing style for the artwork we’re providing,” she said. “Working with TJM means that we’re getting great quality at an affordable price. As a nonprofit and a major art institution in our region, both needs are important. Working with TJM also means that we’re going to get excellent customer service, and that is perhaps most important of all.”
Thank you, Lisa, for your kind words and ongoing support. We look forward to continuing our productive relationship with the Appleton Museum for many years to come!
