Customer Spotlight: Elliot Ragland
Patches Perform Pizza Promotion!
Rick Cundiff
In the land of Elvis, great barbecue and the Delta blues, Elliot Ragland saw an opportunity for both himself and his employer.
“I work at Memphis Pizza Cafe, it is a dine-in pizza restaurant in Memphis, Tennessee. We have 4 locations throughout Memphis, and specialize in thin crust pizzas, calzones, sandwiches, and salads.”
The kitchen worker decided to have hats made for coworkers. But he didn’t stop there. He chose to add custom patches to them. That’s when he turned to TJM Promos and our Patches4Less.com division.
“I discovered Patches4Less through Reddit and YouTube, after doing research on reputable patch companies. I ordered patches of our company’s logo. This logo is what we use on menus, t-shirts, and promotional materials.”
Ragland is quick to point out that he is a line worker not a member of management at Memphis Pizza Café. He notes that he speaks on behalf of himself only, not as an official representative of the restaurant.
Our signature customer service quickly won him over.
“When I started this project, I didn’t know what I was doing. Your customer service representatives, Ryan and Evan, talked me through every step over the phone and gave me confidence in your product,” he said.
The hats, with their patches, proved an immediate success.
“I initially placed an order for 50 woven patches. All the hats I made sold out and coworkers wanted more, so I placed another order for 100 more patches. They came in looking amazing … People’s reaction to the patch was very positive. The woven material was vibrant and almost shimmery, in contrast to the mellow, earthy color of the hats. Your product made our company logo stand out—being both vibrant and blending with the hats in a really interesting way.”
Now they’ve become a merchandise staple for the restaurant.
“We used to make t-shirts, but they are expensive, don’t sell quickly, and take up a lot of space for inventory. Hats are one size fits all and most people don’t have as many hats as they do shirts. So I decided to put patches onto hats I bought wholesale and they sold like candy to coworkers.”
The patches “solved the problem of MPC having no merch for the past 4-5 years,” he said. “People I know wished they could get a t-shirt, but there wasn’t enough widespread interest to make it happen.”
Ragland praised our responsiveness.
“Price, delivery time, and quality were very good! Order arrived promptly and with extras. All expectations were met!”
In fact, things went so well that he ordered another 100 patches. When some of those arrived with an issue with the iron-on adhesive, he found out how we handle issues with our products.
“I sent a quick email to your team and they offered to send replacements quickly and at no cost. They were very helpful and I appreciated their willingness to fix a problem without a second thought.”
The whole experience turned out so well, Ragland’s taking his entrepreneurial streak to another level.
“This has been such an enjoyable and profitable side project for me that I have decided to start a custom hat business for local organizations,” he said. “I plan to keep ordering patches from Patches4Less.”
We appreciate the vote of confidence, Elliot. We’re always happy to help any business, large or small. We’re here to serve all your patch needs. (P.S. – we sell hats too!)
