Customer Spotlight: Ned Glysson/Michigan Old Puckers
Patches for a Michigan senior hockey team
Rick Cundiff
Ned Glysson is happy to describe himself and his friends as Old Puckers. Chill out, that’s emphatically not a typo. Ned and his friends are senior hockey players, based in Michigan.
“The Old Puckers hockey club was established in 2002,” he said. “It is made up of friends that play in ‘senior’ hockey tournaments or fund raisers. Early on, that was 40 years of age and over. Now the division is typically 70+. We play all over the country, but most contests are in Michigan. Depending on the tournament location, we can be either the Ann Arbor or Michigan Old Puckers.”
He wanted to have a logo to represent the team, so he turned to his sister, Joann Kerr of Joann Kerr Designs to create it.

“I wanted something simple and old school and a play on the word theme. Rather than go with an old player or something like that, we decided bold wording on a puck with the jerseys being old school would be more fun. I think we’ve achieved that as the “sweaters” are very popular and we’ve seldom had a conflict of color when competing.”
When looking for a provider for 2.5” and 5” embroidered patches, he found us on the internet.
“I searched on line and spent some time checking out your website,” he said. “It seemed worth a try since buying (other) team stuff posed other more expensive challenges.”
Glysson was looking for a way to promote the team, but didn’t want to have to buy expensive team wear.
“Often there are minimum order sizes on team wear,” he said. “This group is very fluid, with guys coming and going. Few are interested in team wear. For the few that are, the patches work great!”
When it came to attaching the patches to bags and gear, he turned to an unlikely source for help.
“My connection with the Girl Scouts solved that. They have a technology that adheres the patches without sewing. That’s especially necessary on heavy team bags, equipment and items where sewing is impossible. The Magic Patch two-sided adhesive works.”

The Old Puckers were happy with the patches, with Glysson noting that he would “absolutely!” order the patches again. He praised our customer service as well.
“All went splendidly. Design and ordering process was seamless and intuitive.
Anytime I had a question, response time was rapid, as was manufacturing time. Price was reasonable, with value and quality being excellent. The investment saved me money and made displaying a logo of pride possible. All this process has been fun. That’s what purchasing stuff like this is supposed to be.”
Thank you Ned for your vote of confidence in TJM. We’re happy to support Old Puckers on the ice at any time! We look forward to continuing to serve you and the team in the future.
