Employee Spotlight: Leonard Tierra

Employee Spotlight: Leonard Tierra

Celebrating the staff members who make TJM's success possible

Rick Cundiff

For December, our Employee Spotlight falls on the leader of our team of talented artists, Art Director Leonard Tierra!

What do you do at TJM and how long have you worked here?

As the Art Director at TJM, I lead a great team of talented graphic artists who take care of everything from customer proofs to corporate branding materials. I’ve been here so long I’ve lost count, somewhere north of 12 years.

What’s your favorite product that you’ve sold or helped design?

I don’t really have one favorite product, but I like the challenge of successfully making a product aesthetically pleasing within design and production limitations.

What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?

I’m very into fitness, I make it a priority to weight train 3-4 days a week.  I feel that it not only sharpens my body but my mind as well, improving every other part of my life, from home to work to everything in between. I also enjoy traditional pencil and paper drawing of mostly portraits and figures. I make it a point to draw every day.

Tell us a little about your family.

I have a beautiful, intelligent wife, along with three amazing kids. My wife is a paralegal who puts in way too many hours and still somehow manages to make amazing dinners. The kids are pretty grown — they are 15, 17, and 20. All beautiful and talented, I could go on and on about them, but will spare everyone the details.

What do you like most about living in central Florida?

Despite it getting insanely hot during the summer, I appreciate the climate. Not having to drive in snow is a plus. I love the beach and how beach season is much longer than other places. The winters aren’t super cold, except for a few cold snaps overnight, but they serve as a nice break from the unrelenting heat in Florida.

What do you like best about working for TJM?

I get to work with very cool, genuine people daily. TJM gave me an opportunity that, at the time, I didn’t know I wanted or was confident I could do. They believed in me, and the only way I could see to repay them was to perform the job to the best of my abilities.

Any exciting things planned in the future?

In the immediate future, I’m looking forward to the holidays.

Anything else you’d like to tell the world about?

Support local artists!
