Get To Know TJM: Get To Know Our Moms!

Here's to you, Mom!

Rick Cundiff

In celebration of Mother’s Day, we asked our staffers to tell us about their moms. Here’s some of what we had to say:

Courtney Cole

I am a mom to my two-year-old twinnies, Sadie and Hudson, as well as to my chocolate lab, Daisy. I can honestly say I do not know where I would be without my mom. She helps me every day. I can always go to her to "shoot it to me straight" as one would say, ha ha! She will always give me the advice I do not necessarily want, but need. She is also the best shopping buddy around, and really knows how to have a good time. We all love her dearly and cherish her so much.

As we have previously established, my mother is a saint. She is one of those moms where if you are in her home, you will be treated like any of her natural born kids—she is your second mom now. Hungry? She will feed you. Need someone to talk to? She will lend a listening ear. Need help navigating life? She will share her wisdom.

Our house was always one of the houses where all the friends would congregate. Now that we are all adults, so many of my siblings and my own friends are still in touch with her. And now that I am a parent, it's just wonderful to see her be a grandma. I also have a newfound understanding of what she went through raising us, especially since my daughter is just like I was as a child.

Well, bonus, the majority of the office got to work with my mom for a brief moment in time.

My mom is pretty spectacular. She's the role model for how I "mom," sprinkled in with my own flair as per usual. She can be fun, but is super fun when she lets her hair down and has a few glasses of some adult beverage. The amount of patience she has is astonishing. Putting up with my dad and brother, then having 6 grandkids all sub 10 years old, I guess could help contribute to that. She enjoys the beach and the outdoors.

I honestly never expected that I would become friends with my mom as an adult. It’s been a blast being her daughter.

Mom was a force of nature. She simply did not take “no” for an answer. That’s how she built a business that lasted more than 38 years in my hometown. She was a great mom too, always loving and supportive, and I miss her every day.

My mom is a wonderful woman who has recently made her favorite hobby into a career: Photography. She goes by Sweet Escape Photography on Instagram. She loves taking scenery pictures, headshots, baby photos, etc. She's really perfected her craft and I'm very proud of her!
