Get to Know TJM: Our Favorite Romantic Movies

Love is in the air -- and on the screen.

Valentine’s Day is all about romance. And movies that capture our hearts are a natural part of that. We asked our staff to name their favorite romantic move. Here’s what we came up with:

Jess Rodriguez

I loooove this month's topic because this is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's rather sad, but a love story nonetheless. The movie is a French one called, Mood Indigo. It features quirky characters, stop motion animated effects, and several reasons to cry. I highly recommend watching this one if you appreciate complex emotions and surrealism.

Vito Giammanco

I would have to go with Groundhog Day. The amount of work Bill Murray goes through, living the same day over and over to get it right and fall for Andie MacDowell is great. This was such a funny movie too!

Shannon Moore

Star Wars of course can be a romantic movie wrapped all the way up to the end with Leia and Han. [Editor's Note: Did we mention that TJM is a Star Wars-obsessed company? With an original name the referenced a certain ancient order?]

I have a handful of movies that I enjoy.  I don't typically care for the super sappy romantics like The Notebook, but I am a sucker for oldies like Singing in the Rain. I am almost always down to watch a rom com. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is among the top.

Courtney Cole

All-time favorite movie in general is Dirty Dancing. I know, I know … I am never going to hear the end of this. But I don’t care. It’s a classic. [Editor's Note: Nobody puts Dirty Dancing in a corner! It's on our Top 5 Movies of All Time list.] Close second would be The Notebook. (Insert the facepalm emoji here.)

Sean Bottass

I'm not a huge movie watcher, especially romance, but got some guidance from my colleague. I'd say The Princess and the Frog. It's a great movie with an amazing story! I love the representation too. Tiana is hands down my favorite Disney princess.

Like Courtney, I love Dirty Dancing. I’m also fond of When Harry Met Sally. But if I had to pick just one favorite romantic movie, I’d go with The Princess Bride. Swordplay, piracy, bravery, rodents of unusual size, redemption and of course, true love. Any other choice? Inconceivable!

Shantanek Pringle

My favorite romantic movie is The Notebook. The movie is special to me because it's a real tearjerker! Very emotional and romantic.

Justin MacDonald

I’m actually a big fan of rom-coms. Pretty Woman, Notting Hill, and When Harry Met Sally are all very re-watchable classics in the MacDonald household. I’ll spare you my 152 detailed reasons why, but You’ve Got Mail is probably the ultimate for me.

If we’re going outside-the-box on romance, I have two love stories I rewatch pretty regularly and they happen to share the same leading man: Russell Crowe. Cinderella Man and Gladiator. While they’re not your typical “romance” movies, the love, loyalty, and dedication both of those characters show to their wives and families is unmatched … and honestly, something to aspire to.
