Product Spotlight: Fun Products for the Holidays

The holidays are a perfect time for fun, festive, affordable promo products. Celebrate the season with these great examples.

Once again, the holiday season is upon us. It’s a festive time, a perfect time for custom promo giveaways and gifts to say thanks to your customers and staff. But what to give?

Seasonal Sensibilities

For holiday promo products, it’s especially important to offer your prospects, customers, vendors or staff a sense of value. Just printing a Christmas tree or a menorah on a tee shirt or cheap pen isn’t enough. Include small items that the recipients will actually use and find meaningful, not just something that will gather dust.

Alternatives and Add-Ons

You can, of course, always offer our traditional seasonal favorites such as custom-imprinted apparel, mugs, tumblers, and other popular products. We’re certainly not going to discount the appeal of those classic products.

You might want to consider some other light-hearted products as well, either alone or in curated bundles with the classics. With family and fun in the forefront of the holidays, let’s take a look at some custom items that people will enjoy, and that will promote your brand at the same time.

Bear in mind, we’re not talking about Nieman Marcus-level gifts here. Unlike the famed Dallas department store, we’re not in the business of selling $860,000 tours of Italy or $180,000 Dolce and Gabbana custom foosball tables. Our suggestions are a bit more down to earth.

Let’s start with the basics. For a whimsical little item that comes in handy around the office, how about custom stress balls? You can get them in just about any shape you want, including holiday icons such as Frosty, or a Thanksgiving turkey. Nothing fancy, just a little day-brightener or trade show giveaway.

Rubik’s Cubes are another favorite. These and items such as custom coloring books are fun for both children and adults, and can foster quality family time.

For Snow Days and Family Nights

It’s easy to craft branded products that your customers and employees will appreciate on days when schools are closed due to weather, or when the family gathers around the fireplace on winter evenings.

Custom playing cards are a classic branding tool, of course. “Deck” the halls (or at least the game table) with your logo. Branded puzzles give you the opportunity to include your logo or even product pictures in a fun way.

Branded versions of board games are another favorite. You can promote your label in the context of timeless tabletop fun. Whether it’s Monopoly, Clue or another cherished classic, you can boost your brand in a unique, fun way.

Outdoor Fun

Custom promo products aren’t limited to indoor use, of course. A range of fun custom items takes the adventure outdoors in the sunshine too.

Whether you call it bag toss, bags, sack toss, or something else the game known as cornhole is always an outdoor winner. It’s also a great promotional product. You can have your custom design printed on the boards, on the bean bags, or even both. It’s a fun product to set up at trade shows, feature at employee appreciation days, or use at charity/civic awareness events.

You can buy the boards or the bags separately, or even full kits with everything included. It’s a unique way to promote your brand in a fun, popular format.

For a low-cost, high-impact promo, don’t forget the classic flying disc (we can’t call it a Frisb** because that’s a trademarked brand). A branded disc sailing through the air on the beach or at the park puts your brand in front of customers just about all year round. Wait- flying discs in winter? Sure, if you’re out playing in the snow anyway, why not? Just be sure to order your discs in a color other than white.

Don’t Forget Fluffy and Fido

If you want to create a positive impression, it pays to include the furry family members in your marketing mix too. Branded pet toys give your customers a fun way to interact with their dogs and cats, and a friendly reminder of your brand. Custom collars and bandanas can take your brand on walks or to the dog park for even greater exposure.

Integrating Fun and Functional.

Keep in mind that the most effective promo items mix both fun and functional elements. You can extend that even to higher value items such as apparel too. Custom tees, sweatshirts or hoodies can carry a fun message in a way that keeps your customers comfortably cool in summer or warm in winter. Just be thoughtful about the message you want your brand to convey.

It’s worth emphasizing that a well-curated bundle of promotional items carries extra power during the holidays. A well-chosen bundle of several items creates a sense of intention and purpose. Don’t overdo it, but a few choice items such as a custom imprinted mug, a sample of coffee or tea and a custom board game, for example, can create a gift with real meaning.
